Ok, a decade different, and I'll let you guess whch way ;), but Fiesta earns its 30th birthday.
FORD OF Britain, today, is celebrating 30-years of Fiesta models.

Fashion model, Nell McAndrew, will be at the Bluebird Café on London's Kings Road to celebrate the birthday by unveiling the original 1976 Mark 1 alongside the new 2006 model.

What started as a small car to beat the 70's energy crisis and to appeal to women, became one of the most popular cars on the road.

More than 3.2m Fiestas - enough to stretch bumper to bumper from London to New York and back - have been sold in the UK since the first one rolled off the assembly line. The £1,856 entry-level model featured then state-of-the-art extras such as a folding rear seat, rubber floor mats and two-speed windscreen wipers.

A staggering 8.5m Fiestas have so far been built.

In 1984 it became the first small car with a diesel engine. Five years later it was the first to come complete with ABS. Twelve years ago it was the first to offer a standard driver airbag.

"When we launched Fiesta back in 1976, we pioneered the beginning of the small car segment, said Steve Hood, marketing director, Ford of Britain.
