The only Mk1 Turbo I've seen for sale in ages is this black one currently on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1983-MG-METRO-TURBO-MK1-UNLEADED-1275cc-RARE-CLASSIC_W0QQitemZ290274104612QQcmdZViewItem?hash=i tem290274104612&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A7%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

Current bid is just over 800, with a week to go! I suspect this is the one you've already seen though...

I think the price is realistic, the last one I saw I think was sold for ~1250, in seemingly good condition, but you never know whats underneath.

I've seen a few mk1 MG Metros pass by this year, mostly in the silvery-blue metalic colour or red/black 2-tone.

Being not rotten may be your problem, have you considered buying one and carrying out some restoration work?

Theres more pics of that MG Metro turbo here -

http://www.tvrturboregister.co.uk/metroturbopresent.html

There is rust along the roof seam/top pillar and the doors look like they are gone too, there is also a dint on the other door!

Tempted but would have to factor in the cost of repairs to be around 400/500 ish, more If I decide to respray

I saw the pics from the link on the eBay listing, my own interest perked up a little when I saw it appear the other day :D

The doors must be easy to replace, but the roof seam probably needs some attention.

One of our other members picked up a black Mk1 Tickford Turbo earlier in the year, maybe even last year now... that had some pretty heavy tin rot underneath it all, too. He's since stripped it all back to the bare shell, had it fully repaired, sand blasted, coated and so forth and is probably starting the rebuild process by now...

Even at a whopping 1000 repair costs, that leaves the current price at ~1,850. I guess only you can consider whether this is too much for the car you seem to desire?

My personal opinion is no.

Good condition Mk1 Turbo's as stated previously are rare beasties.

DVLA has only 37 Mk1 Turbo's listed on there data base.

Now this won't account for any that have been stored away since before SORN came in, but its highly unlikely that any stored Mk1 Turbo's won't need at least 500 plus spending on them to bring them up to scratch.

I have a very early Mk2 Metro Turbo currently in storage (B Plate).

This car has 'pre-MG' clock dials in yellow, and is basically in "MK1 Trim" being Cinnabar red over grey whith Mk1 Turbo Alloys, Grey body kit and late Mk1 interior.

It is pretty much as it left the factory, a non sunroof model with minimal rust(couple of very minor blemish's), and mainly needs recomissioning.

I have no intention of parting with it, but was offered 1000 'As Is' on the day I collected it.

And that was as a non runner, with 'blown' tyres and the carb in bits.

If you seriously want a MK1 Turbo or even a MK1 Nasp MG Metro in very good condition, then I would suggest you either 'up' your budget, or increase your options by looking at lesser condition cars and getting them up to scratch.

When I owned a Metro it was concidered a cardinal sin to own one - now suddenly they're cool?

I couldn't get this much for my old one when I sold it 8 years ago, aged 5!
