Connaught

Connaught started life, based in Guilford in the 1950's as a producer of specialist fast road cars as well as making an impact into the world of motorsport.

50s Connaught Racing

Perhaps best known for their efforts in Formula1, Connaught say they were the first British team to win a Grand Prix, which was achieved at Syracuse in 1955. Connaught was also the first F1 team to have it's own wind tunnel.

Unfortunatley, the company closed in 1957 due to a lack of funding. Another example of some great British engineering talent that was never allowed to reach its full potential due to money.

In 2002, the Connaught name was revived in Daventry, to front the Type-D, available in the limited edition GT-Syracuse supercharged V10 and a self claimed 100% British hybrid V8.

2006 has seen production of the Type-D start and has made a bold appearance at the British Motor Show and at MPH-06.
