Bruce Mclaren, originally a driver alongside Jack Brabham for Cooper Formula 1, felt the need to take the development of racing cars to the next level.
In 1963 Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Ltd was founded, but Bruce would continue racing for 2 more years at Cooper whilst his company was established.
Formula 1 has always been McLarens primary objective, but they have created some memorable cars, such as the McLaren M1 and the McLaren F1 and have been involved with work with Ford for their GT cars.
