Bristol Cars to launch 1,012bhp Fighter T in September 2007

The British specialist sports/luxury car manufacturer Bristol Cars is to add a ‘T’ twin turbocharged derivative of its Fighter high performance coupé range next autumn, whose 8-litre V10 engine, tweaked from the V10 in the other two Fighter and Fighter S models and driving through a six-speed manual gearbox, will boast 1,012bhp and 1,036 lb. ft of torque at 4,500 rpm.

A potential maximum speed of 270 mph has been electronically limited to 225 mph at 4,500 rpm. The car will reach 60 mph from standstill in 3.5 seconds. A new rear wake diffuser has cut the car’s drag to a 0.27 rating. Bristol Cars says the new Fighter will take two people and their luggage in great luxury.

The price, perhaps unlikely to be a critical factor for prospective buyers, has not been announced, and Bristol Cars does not list prices for its models on www.bristolcars.co.uk. Bristol is now in its 60th year of building luxury/sports cars in small volumes.
