BLACK CAB TOPS AUTO TRADER’S DESIGN ICON POLL
The iconic black cab has been hailed as the greatest British automotive design icon in a National poll. The recent survey confirmed once again that the purpose built taxi is an instantly recognisable style icon.
Auto Trader magazine has conducted a survey, where the black cab polled a massive 42 per cent of all votes. Polling more than 24 % more votes than its nearest rival the Mini and other prestigious models such as the Aston Martin DB5, and the Land Rover, the black cab beat them all hands down.
The purpose built British taxi, manufactured by LTI in Coventry has stood the test of time and has escorted the likes of Winston Churchill and Elvis Presley. It is world famous for its durability, recognisability and a true British Classic and loved all over the world.
Matthew Cheyne, Sales and Marketing Director at LTI said: "We’re delighted that the black cab has been chosen as the British Design icon. On the results of this poll, it only reinforces the iconic status that the black cab holds. I think you would have to go a long way to find a vehicle that is so instantly recognisable but also has a special place in people’s hearts whether at home or abroad."
