MG6 touring essentials question

Being an out doors sort of person, I need a pair of roof bars and a rear bike rack.

I've asked my dealer and MG motor, and looked through Thule and other manufacturers, but I can't find a compatible system for either.

Any of you guys got any info. on this?

From what I understand, these will be after-market extras in due course. Maybe our MG UK employee will be able to find out/shed some light on this.

I thought bike racks and roof bars had a degree ajustability & being transferable from vehicle to vehicle ?

Had a reply from Keith. Basically MG Motor are working on it.

I will have to do some pioneering testing as all of the manufacturers, such as Thule, Mont Blanc, Halfords etc. don't list the MG6!! Indeed there must be something out there that fits!

Good stuff re your response, didn't mean to teach you to suck eggs (seemed like a good question at the time......). Halfords have some new stuff in for the Rover 45 range so you should be lucky.

Some places will hire out roof racks, so if you want to offload some of the R&D to someone else, then maybe pop along to somewhere like that for a fitting session?

Might be expensive for the effective one-off use of the service, but as an interim measure and pioneering session for other MG6 owners...?

Can you get a tow bar, and then get a little trailer to put the bikes in/on ?

I spoke with Keith Harris at OP re the roof bars and bike racks. By the sounds of it they're having a bit of fun over quality from suppliers (certainly re roof bars). It may be worth your while speaking direct with the sales centre or Keith direct re progress on these two items.

Keith has been keeping me in the loop and I know they are working on it. I would have thought Halfords / Thule / Mont Blanc would have sorted a compatible set of roof bar feet by now. There are so many different ones, that there must be a match..... but which ones!

A few more dead ends since my original quest. Hoping to catch up with Keith and the team at MG Live! on the weekend to see what progress there may be.
